Camp Metro - Nurse (Summer 2024)

The GSLE empowers girls to discover their own world as they develop a strong sense of self and strengthen values, connect with others in a global community as girls form caring relationships, promote cooperation and embrace diversity, and take action in the world as girls identify and solve problems they care about.  

We are currently looking for individuals to fill the following Summer Camp positions at Camp METRO. Camp Metro is a day camp program held at the West Side Girl Scout Leadership Center at Coronado/Escobar in San Antonio.

Nurse (Reports to Camp Director)

Essential Job Functions:

  • Cares for the physical well-being of everyone in camp. Takes care of all cases of illness and accidents of campers and staff.
  • Keeps heath records; records all treatment in bound book and other health information including insurance claims.
  • Maintains first aid equipment.
  • Inventories all medical supplies at the end of the camp season; disposing of items that cannot be kept through the winter, packing for storage supplies that are unusable.
  • Prepares records for office files, including health forms for all campers and staff, inventories, daily treatment sheets, individual health records, and accident and illness insurance forms.
  • Notifies Camp Director immediately of all serious illnesses and accidents.
  • Transports any ill or injured person to the doctor or the hospital when needed.

Requirements: (Minimum Education and Experience)

  • Registered Nurse (RN) or License Practical Nurse (LPN), with a license as required by the state of Texas. 
  • CPR certified.
  • Current First Aid certification and experience in first aid and emergency management.
  • Valid driver’s license and successful completion of a criminal background check.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Experience in both child and adult illness/injury care.
  • Desire to work with children and young adults.
  • Community health knowledge.
  • Preferred attendance for training sessions for the position May 28 – May 31st  and June 3 – 7, 2024.
  • Must be available to work camp session July 8 – July 26, 2024.
