Information Technology Manager

The Information Technology Manager is responsible for aligning technology strategies with the organizational goals of Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas. This role requires an IT professional with expertise in hardware, software, networking, data security, and Tier 2 support. The ideal candidate will work independently while collaborating closely with their direct supervisor, the Director of Business Operations, to ensure seamless technology operations, provide reliable support, and effectively manage third-party IT vendors and contracts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of technology solutions that support the council's mission and operations, in conjunction with the Director of Business Operations.[SF1] 
  • Provide Tier 2 support by managing escalated issues from the help desk, diagnosing, and resolving more complex IT problems related to hardware, software, and network systems.
  • Oversee and manage the organization's IT infrastructure, including hardware (servers, desktops, laptops, mobile devices) and software applications, ensuring they are secure, updated, and optimized.
  • Coordinate with third-party IT service providers, including network administrators and copier vendors, to ensure service levels are met and contractual obligations are fulfilled.
  • Manage network security, access, data integrity, and backup systems to protect the organization's information assets.
  • Evaluate and recommend IT strategies, policies, and procedures based on organizational needs, industry best practices, and future growth.
  • Maintain strong relationships with IT vendors, provide input on contract negotiations, and oversee the procurement of hardware and software.
  • Support the development and enforcement of policies for technology use, data security, and privacy, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Maintain and manage an inventory of all technology equipment, including lifecycle management and asset tagging.
  • Provide training and support to staff on new technologies, applications, and security protocols.
  • Lead IT projects from planning through execution, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, timelines, and budget constraints, in collaboration with the Director of Business Operations.
  • Monitor and manage the IT department budget, providing forecasts, managing expenditures, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the council’s mission and operational goals.

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field; or equivalent work experience. A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive IT experience, including Tier 2 support, hardware, software, and network management.
  • Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries from internal customers and regulatory agencies.
  • Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures such and apply concepts using basic math.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; and interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions.
  • Computer Skills: Advanced skills with Microsoft 365 and other common applications.
