We are currently looking for individuals to fill the following Summer Camp positions at Camp La Jita. Camp La Jita meaning “precious possession” was aptly chosen as the name for our resident camp on the beautiful Sabinal River near Utopia, Texas. Camp La Jita rests on 236 acres of Texas Hill Country land, one hour and twenty minutes west of San Antonio.
Administrative Assistant
Reports to: Camp Director
FUNCTION: The Administrative Assistant is responsible for the business management of the camp in assistance to the Camp Director.
ACCOLINTABILITY: The Administrative Assistant is accountable to the Camp Director for the satisfactory performance of the function of this position.
Principal Duties:
- Maintains and makes necessary entries into camp books.
- Communicates weekly with council staff to ensure registration and receipts are in order
- Shops under the direction and supervision of Camp Director
- Keeps necessary records as required: camp inventories, camp cards, camper profiles, registration forms, weekly camper report, etc.
- Assists the Camp Director in:
- Planning and conducting staff training and meetings.
- Surveys and outcomes
- Planning and conducting staff training and meetings.
- Assists in coordinating opening and closing days.
- Follows Safety Activity Check Points and adheres to the National and Council Policies, Procedures and Plans
- Carries out all duties as delegated by Director.
- Attends administrative and staff meetings.
- Responsible for Lost and Found items.
- Responsible for all paperwork and filing system including Salesforce and GS Events
- Acts as a role model for campers and staff in behavior and attitude, following the Girl Scout promise and Law and camp procedure.
Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalent (some college is preferred)
- Successful completion of a background check
- Attend training sessions for the position June 5, 2023 – June 9, 2023
- Must be available to stay at camp June 11, 2023 – August 5, 2023 (some weekends required, with alternate day off)
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and reliable means of transportation
- First aid and CPR highly preferred
- Experience with child interaction and supervision (camp setting is a plus!)
- Willingness to work as a team member
- Flexibility, energetic, and good sense of humor
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
- Interest in and knowledge of Girl Scout program (Girl Scout experience is a plus!)
Physical and Environmental Demands:
- Continuous outdoor activity and exposure to weather (heat, sun, humidity, etc.).
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and twisting of the upper body.
- Strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.
- Capable of lifting 30 pounds.
- Willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours with available equipment and facilities.
